As we have explained about the floor plan transition Situm is able to detect the floor changes very fast. However, in some situations you will want them at even a faster speed. We provide two kinds of accelerators that will help you achieve that: path mode and barometer mode .

We'll explain step by step how to activate these modes in your building. You can activate only one of them or both at the same time.

PATH MODE

This mode facilitates the user's transition from one plan to another through the nodes of the path connection previous defined on the Situm Dashboard. In essence, this method "helps" the position to transition from one floor to another, if this position is close than 20 meters to a connection node.

The path mode requires 3 configurations in order to be activated in your building.

Step 1.  Set each floor altitude on each floor plan

On each floor plan in Situm Dashboard you should add the respective level height associated to them in Indicate Level Height. Start from the lowest floor with 0 meters, then add up the respective meters to the higher ones. For example:

Step 2: Create transition paths

The second step involves creating the wayfinding paths of the building, where you must create all the floor paths transitions between adjacent floors. The paths node must be added only on the calibrated area, on each floor change located in the space: stairs,  lifts, escalators.

Step 3. Generate the new positioning model

As a final step, you must re-train the building to generate a new positioning model. You may do this from the Situm Dashboard Configuration Screen.

Barometer mode

The unique altimeter mode facilitates changes on the floor through the device barometer. In this case, no path information or building floor height information is used. Please, mind that only devices featured with by a barometer are compatible.

  1. If you use this mode from Situm Mapping Tool, you should enable the Barometer as described in Advanced Settings.
  2. If you want to activate this feature in your own app, please go to the SDK section where we explain how to activate the Barometer.
