Situm uses the smartphone compass to enhance the estimation of the smartphone orientation. In order to use the information it provides, the compass needs to be properly calibrated.  

You may do this by holding your device on your hand and moving your phone around several times, tracing an "eight figure" like the one shown in the following image.
